Is your life filled with 4s?

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

A common question these days…and it needs to be addressed (particularly in a 3 year) …is how to think outside the box. The number for a box is 4. Four is symbolized by a square and four-sided squares certainly resemble a box. So pretty much, our lives are filled with 4s.

For us lucky ones who have homes, unless our house is round or we live in a yurt, its filled with rooms that are square…maybe oblong… but if it has corners, basically its a box.

We drive our (pretty much box-like) cars on streets which are laid out as straight as possible with angles intersecting the straight lines — few cities have circles. And once we had the opportunity to “jump on the freeway” we no longer used roads that meadered. Then we drive to stores or office buildings that are…boxes! where some people even work in cubicles.

Lately, when I get an idea that might be totally obvious to anyone other than myself, I recognise that I exchanged my “tunnel-vision” for  a new possibility. That happened to me this morning!

Now that I’m living in Santa Fe, I am in  the smallest apartment in my rememberable history. My square computer sits on a square desk in my square bedroom in my square little house. Actually, now that I think about it, it shares the same room with my square bed and some other square furniture.

And with days and days of cold, grey, snowy weather, I’m staying home a lot and feeling stiffled. This morning, I rearranged all the furniture. When I first moved in, I thought this arrangement was the only way and never saw any other possibilites until today!  Whew! Boy! Did I need that! I’m now enjoying sitting at my computer when just yesterday, I was feeling “boxed” – in.

Sooo…I have solutions to living outside the box: 1st one is to think round…not only bring more circles into your life but vary your pathways and don’t take the straight path if you can avoid it! Another plan is to not do the same old familiar thing, but ask  yourself…how many other ways can this be done!

Comfort zones may be comfortable but having to think wakes up our brains. Straight may be faster…but so what?  Its not always the most fun!

January

January is huge in my life: I was born, married and divorced in January. (not all in the same year :-) . So from Christmas until today (the 13th), I enter some null zone, just hanging out, waiting for my birthday to pass so the new year can begin. Well… my birthday was so much fun, I’m not quite ready yet.

However, now I have another excuse…Mercury is still retrograde until the 15th…and then  it will go direct and comunication and computer problems and many other things like car problems should ease up.

I’ve been having a strange problem with my car that I hope will heal when Mercury goes direct. There is a small  orange arrow on my dashboard that sometimes blinks on and off while pointing UP. The book says it is a transmission problem. My mechanic did what he could and said to take it to the dealership service department. But then it stopped blinking. First for days, then for weeks, and just when I was sure it would never blink again it resumed as I was parking my car on my birthday.

Of course, since it points up, I think it must be a message from the angels. Any feedback on this will be appreciated.

Happy birthday to all the Capricorns and Aquarians with birthdays in January.  The birthstones for January are garnet and rose quartz.

On January 16th, I’ll be at Clearlight Bookstore (Santa Fe) speaking about Numerology and signing both of my books. In February, I’ll be teaching four Numerology classes on Tuesday afternoons at Unity Church of Santa Fe. (love offering and the purchase of Numerology, The Power in Numbers.) And my art will be on display at Java Joe’s on Zia Road for the month. Please come or send light.

Light, prayers and blessings to all the people of  Haiti. We are so lucky to be here.

Happy 2010!

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Along with the color and light of this season, I love the wishes and high hopes that we liberally spread around.  When January sets in, it frequently becomes “businees as usual” for most of us.  Of the entire 9 year cycle however, this is the year  to be the most optimistic! 2+0+1+0= 3 and 3 represents playfulness, humor, creativity and self expression.

But 3 also represents the tendancy to scatter yourself  and talk too much…the challenge is to speak meaningful words from your heart. It occurs to me with all the current opportunities for connection (facebook, etc…) we could collectively spend the entire year doing nothing but filling the airwaves with our thoughts.

So 2010 will be interesting because 3 has such a great capacity to imagine that if you speak about your plans or visions, they are very likely to not amount to anything. On some level by speaking about them, you created them. My advice is to watch your words so you do not end this year feeling frustrated that so little was accomplished.

I don’t know about you, but its only the beginning of the year and I’m already feeling frustrated with all the opportunities to “stay in touch”  and all the time I’m devoting to it.  I’d rather be painting or writing or having fun with my friends.

If 3″s creative energy is not scattered, 2010 could easily be the year we solve challenging problems and create an entire new way of doing most everything. But to expand out of the old mind sets, we need to be willing to experiment with new ways and ideas. And criticism from ourselves or others really complicates this.

So to all of us…I wish a year of fun and boundless creativity. Spread optimism around. Share it liberally with all your friends and remind yourself that you need the largest dose!
